New Years Day Run 2020

On Wednesday 1st January 2020 Breffni Vintage Club held our traditional New Year’s Day run organised by Dennis Wright.

We had a large turnout of cars and bikes in ideal weather conditions with participants from north south east and west. The meeting point was Trichia’s mini market in Milltown and the club is most grateful for the hospitality and refreshments.

We wish all our members a happy and healthy new year. Many thanks to Ryan McMahon Lynch for kindly allowing us to use his photos from the event.

New Years Day Run 2019

Breffni Vintage Club would like to wish all their members and friends a very happy and healthy new year and safe motoring throughout the year.

The club had their first run of the year on the first day of the year, how much more efficient than that can you get!

With ideal weather conditions a larger than usual group of motor bikes and cars assembled at Trisha’s Mini Market in Milltown Co. Cavan, where everyone was treated to scones and tea or coffee all under the watchful eye of Denis Wright. It was great to see Denis back in full flight after his recent surgery.

At the appointed hour of twelve midday Peter Reilly led the convoy off to Killeshandra, Crossdoney and Ballinagh before returning to Cavan town for more refreshments.

The club is indebted to Trisha’s mini market and Denis Wright for their efforts on our behalf.

This outing was originally for motorbikes but over the years has morphed into a very popular outing open to all vehicles. Congratulations to everybody involved.

Closing Run 2018

On the 21st of October 2018 Breffni Vintage Club held our closing run for the 2018 vintage season. The damp start to the morning didn’t deter anyone and a large number of cars assembled at MacSeains Pub for the beginning of the run.The cars departed for the first half of the run which brought them to their mid way stopping point at Glenview House and Folk Museum in Ballinamore, Co. Leitrim where they were treated to some very welcome refreshments and snacks by the Kennedy family followed by a guided tour of the Folk Museum.

Teresa Kennedy ensured nobody went thirsty or hungry

Glenview Folk Museum is home to over 7,000 unique artefacts carefully collected and preserved by the Kennedy family ensuring that old traditions are never forgotten. Brian’s guided tour went down a treat and gave everyone an appreciation for the importance of preserving these artefacts for future generations.

The museum contains a number of static shop displays which help to convey how life was like in the past.

The collection is constantly expanding and the museum is well worth a visit as it’s guaranteed to delight both young and old.

The latest addition to the museum is Ann O’Hara’s extensive and unique egg cup collection.

The cars reluctantly departed for the final part of the run after a very enjoyable visit to Glenview House and Folk Museum.

The run finished where it began with an excellent meal at MacSeains Pub in Cornafean, Co. Cavan.

Our chairman Liam D’Arcy gives the closing run a thumbs up!

We’d like to say a special thank you to the Breffni Vintage Club members who organised the run, MacSeains Pub for hosting us and the Kennedy family at Glenview House and Folk Museum for their kind hospitality and opportunity to tour the museum.

As the 2018 season comes to an end we’d be remiss to not mention the tireless work of the Breffni Vintage Club committee who are constantly working behind the scenes ensuring the club’s success and making it an enjoyable experience for all it’s members. The club continues to grow year on year and it’s the hard work of the committee, sub committees and volunteers that is directly responsible for it’s continued success.

Memorial Run 2018 – Photos

Breffni Vintage Club held our Annual Memorial Run on Sunday the 27th May 2018.

Treacys Hotel – Monaghan

The run began at Treacys Hotel in Monaghan where the cars all arrived early on Sunday morning to register and collect their entry packs. The cars then departed for a scenic drive which brought them to their midway break at Ballinode Community Centre in Ballinode, County Monaghan.

After some light refreshments the participants of the run were treated to a tour of the adjoining museum set up by Vincent McAree.

We were very grateful to all those at McAree Engineering for allowing us to park on the grounds of their facility.

The final part of the run brought the cars back to Treacy’s Hotel for a meal and the presentation of the memorial awards.

Thank you to all those who participated in this years run and a special thank you to the huge amount of work done by all those involved in organising and running this years memorial run.

Opening Run 2018

Breffni Vintage Club held our opening run for 2018 on Sunday the 22nd of April. The members assembled in Belturbet before we headed for Teemore and Derrylin to our mid-run stop in Blacklion Co. Cavan.

We were very kindly hosted by McNean Antique and Salvage in the Blacklion Enterprise Centre who provided delicious refreshments that went down a treat with all. We had the opportunity to view the wide range of antiques and collectibles that McNean’s have on offer.

We would highly recommend paying a visit to McNean’s and we wish them every success with their new endeavour. Their kind hospitality won’t be forgotten!

We departed from Blacklion for the final leg of our run which brought us on some very scenic roads with views for miles as we made our way towards Glangevlin and on to our final stop at the Keepers Arms in Bawnboy Co. Cavan where we enjoyed a lovely Sunday dinner.

Thank you to all who partook in the run and a special thank you to all who helped organise and run it. We would also like to thank everyone at McNean’s Antique and Salvage for their very kind and genourous hospitality.
